Q: How to choose a Martial Arts School for your Children
A: Parents looking for martial arts classes for their children need to consider much more than just the cost or the style of martial art, and here are a few important points to consider… it’s not the style of the martial art you practice that’s important; it’s the instructor who can inspire and educate your children that’s important, and when visiting prospective martial arts schools you should observe a class in action, as all good instructors will let you watch a training session, especially for children, and if they don’t – the best advice is to look for another.
While watching a class, observe the interaction between the students and instructors very carefully as the students should seem happy and motivated, with plenty of smiling, sweating and learning going on with students grinning from ear to ear; as Martial Arts training should be enjoyed, not endured.
The classes should be structured, well run and professional, and taught by experienced Black Belt instructors who have been trained to work with children, who can teach with positive reinforcement and give students ‘a never ending correction with a smile’. It’s important to realise that there are no ‘bad’ martial arts, just ‘poor’ instructors, and the instructor who can inspire, motivate and excite their students, especially children, can teach very powerful and valuable lessons as they have the ‘Power of Influence’.
Q: Do you teach Life Skills for Children in your Karate Classes?
A: Our Karate classes not only teaches children how to defend themselves… More importantly, it gives them the Life Skills they need for Success in Life. From Confidence that they can turn ‘On’ when they need it in any situation, to Self Esteem so they learn to ‘like themselves’ and ‘feel good’ about their accomplishments, to Focusing, to Respect, to a Positive “Yes I Can” Attitude, to Self Discipline, to Perseverance, and Setting and Achieving Goals in life with the coloured belt system, – Children emerge from our Little Dragons Karate classes and our Karate Kidz classes, transformed and changed for the better, and parents couldn’t be happier.
Q: What if the lesson I have requested is full?
A: Spaces in our classes are extremely limited, so you can choose to book a different class type, date or time and request to move to your preferred class and time and soon as a space becomes available in that class.
Q: Where can I find the timetables of the classes?
A: The Timetables for each of the Age-specific classes that we teach can be found by selecting the ‘Classes’ Menu tab at the top of the website page and selecting either Karate Tots, Little Dragons, Karate Kidz or Adults Karate with the relevant timetables on the page.
Q: How do I pay tuition payments?
A: If you decide to become a member, all tuition payments are paid by Direct Debit. The tuition training fees are calculated on a 48 week per year training basis with payments made monthly in 12 equal payments per year, which allows 4 weeks to take account of your normal holidays without any payment adjustment.
Q: What about any missed classes?
A: All students are enrolled into our school in a dedicated Day and Class Time. Any missed classes can be made up at your convenience; however no refunds are given if the training is not taken, as our class sizes and spaces are limited, and you are paying for a guaranteed space in a class.
